Yorkseed Weekly: Recap from the Asian Financial Forum (AFF)

Last week, I had the incredible honor of serving as one of the mission leaders for the French delegation at the Asian Financial Forum (AFF) in Hong Kong, alongside the brilliant Kelly Zhang from Creative Valley. Representing Yorkseed on such a global stage was an absolute privilege, and seeing our logo prominently displayed throughout the forum was a proud moment for our team. Additionally, I had the privilege of being interviewed by China Daily.

The AFF provided a unique platform to connect with global leaders, investors, and innovators from across industries. This year’s theme, centered on sustainability and innovation, resonated deeply with the mission of fostering transformative ventures. It was also inspiring to see some of our very own Yorkseed founders exhibiting at the forum, showcasing their groundbreaking ideas to an international audience.

Key takeaways from AFF include:

  1. Deal Making at Its Best: The forum’s Deal Flow Matchmaking Session facilitated hundreds of strategic meetings, helping investors discover high-potential startups and entrepreneurs secure key partnerships. The energy in these sessions was palpable, and it was rewarding to witness impactful connections being made.

  2. Focus on Sustainability: Many discussions revolved around green finance and ESG investments. AFF highlighted the growing demand for solutions that balance profitability with positive social and environmental impact, offering valuable insights for startups and investors alike.

  3. Global Collaboration: With participants from over 80 countries, the forum showcased the importance of cross-border partnerships in addressing global challenges. The diversity of perspectives and opportunities to collaborate reaffirmed the power of an interconnected global ecosystem.

  4. The Future of FinTech: Innovative trends in digital banking, blockchain, and AI were at the forefront. These advancements are not just shaping the financial sector but are influencing the trajectory of various industries.

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is instrumental in organizing the Asian Financial Forum (AFF), which brings together global leaders in finance, technology, and innovation to promote meaningful discussions, collaborations, and deal-making that shape Asia’s financial future. AFF highlighted the importance of a global perspective and reinforced Yorkseed’s mission to connect ecosystems, empower founders, and drive impactful change. The passion and innovation displayed throughout the forum were truly inspiring and leave me excited for what’s to come.

We can’t wait for next year’s AFF and look forward to seeing even more Yorkseed founders shining on this prestigious platform.

Looking for volunteers to run some of these hubs. What does a local hub volunteer / co-organizer do?

  • Run a YorkseedTM event once a month. It must be Founders + Investors + Tech Executives focus. I am open to all sort of events from happy hours to panels, or even demo nights. To make it easier, it can be a co-branded event with another company.

  • Collect mailing list, YorkseedTM database building from all the attendees. Partnership, investor or collaboration opportunities for YS.

  • Feed me any local events you know will be coming up in the local city, and I will include them the newsletter.

The perks of being a local hub volunteer? You are exposed to high-level individuals, and infinite opportunities will come your way!
